About IPMA

IPMA staat voor International Process Management Association.

IPMA is a global organisation focused on developing and promoting project management competencies. Founded in 1965, IPMA has member associations in over 70 countries.

IPMA is best known for its competence-based approach to project management certification. The certifications are based on the IPMA Competence Baseline (ICB) — a framework that defines project management skills and knowledge across three main domains.

IPMA is not a method, but an independent quality label. The exams are independent of the specific method in which someone has been trained. Independent, objective, and transparent.

Project managers' competencies are assessed against international IPMA standards. The certificate is recognised in 70 countries. To ensure a high and up-to-date level, IPMA certificates have a limited period of validity.
